SINJSKA ALKA Sinjska alka (Alka of Sinj) is ring riding, which is named after the ring used in it, the so-called Alka. This tournament and folk festival takes place on the first weekend of August every year in the town of Sinj in Croatia. The participating lancer is called Alkar. Sinjska alka has been held annually since 1717 to commemorate the victory over an Ottoman army that besieged the town of Sinj during the Austro-Turkish War from August 8th to 15th, 1715.
